Start with the occasion

An everyday jalabiya asks for something soft and easy to wear through a long day. An evening or wedding piece can carry a heavier, more structured fabric that holds embroidery well.

Think about the weather

Madinat Zayed is hot for much of the year. Lighter, breathable fabrics keep you comfortable, while a fuller fabric is better for cooler evenings. Tell us when and where you will wear the piece and we will suggest what suits.

Match fabric to embroidery

Hand embroidery sits best on fabric with enough body to support it. If you have a design in mind, bring it to the shop and we will show you fabrics that carry it well.
